Congratulations to Kyle Farnsworth, one of our trombone section leaders, who earned the rank of "Eagle Scout" on March 13 at his Eagle Board of Review.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), and the designation has has a long history since its founding over 100 years ago. Only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process. The requirements necessary to achieve this rank take years to fulfill. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges. The Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Kyle is a member of the Wind Ensemble and Full Orchestra at CTJ, and has played with the jazz band in prior years. He is a TMEA All-Area bass trombonist, and comes from a long line of great Johnson/Reagan band members. His older brothers were all in band at CTJ and Reagan; Zachary was our former Brass captain and trumpet soloist, Ryan was a member of our trombone section, and Michael was a trumpet player and section leader at Reagan. As a result, Kyle has grown up around the band program at CTJ, and we are thrilled to celebrate this accomplishment with him.
