Patrick Cheney has been named assistant band director at Claudia Taylor Johnson High School after spending the past three years at Canyon High School in New Braunfels. Mr. Cheney attended Cooper High School in Abilene. While a senior at Cooper, he performed with Black Gold World Winter Guard in 2010. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s from McMurry University in Music Education and studied oboe performance under Susie Rockett. While at McMurry, Mr. Cheney won two concerto competitions and marched Bluecoats in 2012. Mr. Cheney student taught in Fredericksburg where he continued to teach as a Middle School Band Director and directed the High School Color Guard from 2015-2018. For the past three years, Mr. Cheney has been an Assistant Band Director at Canyon High School in New Braunfels. At Canyon, he worked with the sub-non-varsity and directed the color guard program. Mr. Cheney also performed with Invictus World Winter Guard in 2017 and 2018 under the direction of Tracy Wooton. He has been a member of the Invictus Board of Directors ever since.
